At MiTek, the health & safety of people – both our own personnel and those of our partners and customers – is of paramount importance. Our experienced team is able to work with you to ensure all health & safety legislation is complied with throughout your mezzanine project. We are conversant with the regulations in the key markets that we serve and can help you implement measures to ensure accident-free installation, as well as safe use of your mezzanine system over its lifetime. As you would expect, our mezzanine floor solutions are always designed and engineered to meet all prevailing building regulations, which include areas relating to safety such as structural integrity, fire safety, fall protection and more.

Safety is no accident

Our qualified in-house health & safety professionals develop and support our programme of continuous health and safety improvement. They ensure active involvement of all stakeholders – from Directors to front-line personnel – in our safety training and accreditation initiatives. In the UK, we adhere to:

  • Health & Safety at Work Act (HSWA), 1974
  • Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations (MHSWR), 1999
  • Construction Design & Management Regulations (CDM), 2015
  • Work at Height Regulations (WAHR), 2005

Our health and safety management structure is fully compliant with health & safety legislation and, in addition, we are currently working towards the international standard for health and safety at work, ISO 45001. We write Method Statements, undertake Risk Assessments and implement Health & Safety Procedures, in line with guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

We ensure that all personnel – including mezzanine installers, site managers and key office staff – have up-to-date qualifications relevant to the mezzanine sector and the wider construction industry, including:

  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) cards
  • CITB-certified Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)
  • First Aid qualifications
  • Certification in the use of all relevant plant equipment

MiTek is committed to working exclusively with suppliers who embed health and safety in their culture to minimize risk for everyone. We adopt a zero-tolerance approach, with failure to attain the necessary health & safety standards resulting in suspension from our approved list of suppliers.
